Palheiro Golf
Palheiro Golf is situated some 10 km east of Funchal with magnificent views overlooking the town and bay.
The 18-hole par 72 course was designed by Cabell Robinson in 1993 and is skillfully set in the estate and parkland of the Quinta do Palheiro.
Remarkable for its Bermuda fairways, fast greens and the presence of many spectacular mature trees, the course is a worthy challenge for all handicap levels.

Palheiro Golf Clubhouse has a unique open plan design, which is both spacious and welcoming and has one of the best views on the island. It sits high above the bay of Funchal and has panoramic views over the mountains

Our fully equipped Pro-Shop, with its welcoming staff and friendly service is the main point of check-in and information and specifically designed to optimise any golfers' shopping experience.
Clothing labels range from Polo Ralph Lauren and Ashworth, Golfino and LPGA for Ladies, Footjoy shoes, to Titleist and Wilson clubs.
The Palheiro Environment
Within its vastly diverse flora you will find several endemic species and many from around the world.
Bird lovers will find enough variety of song and plumage to keep them happy, whilst the colour and shapes of the insects, will satisfy even the most enthusiastic entomologist.
Flora: Palheiro is rich with vegetation; many species from around the world and this alone justifies the commitment to conservation. Many of the indigenous species from the island are well represented, especially around the "folly" (the golf course logo). There is enough variety to allow a tour of the world's flora in this unique setting.

Fauna: The birds are the main fauna at Palheiro with over 20 species, an excellent example of all that exist in Madeira. There is an especially active colony of birds of prey that feed and breed around the course. In order to promote their presence and make it easier to observe them, feeding stations and breeding boxes have been installed around the estate. For the same reason other types of shelters and food stops have been constructed so the owls and bats can be seen when the sun goes down. To reduce pollution on the course the golf buggies have been substituted and now are electric instead of petrol. Situated high in the hills overlooking Funchal, Palheiro Golf, with its commitment to environmental friendly landscaping, offers a rare opportunity to get in touch with nature.
Views
Due to its unique position, the course provides many wonderful lookout points with amazing views over Funchal and the Desertas Islands.
